Above all of these he has a chest guard that is fastened by only one strap over the right shoulder, which holds his Zanpakutō's sheath in place on his back loosely. He tends to wrap bandages around his arms, which reach up to his elbows. He wears dark blue colored pants and a holster wrapped over his left knee for his kunai. He completes his attire with a pair of sandals. These are often accompanied by his precious artifact: his father's scarf made from silver-white, windflower light silk. His clothes are engineered with his dimensional transcendentalism concept, as they have pockets that are bigger on the inside.

Personality
Shuren is short-tempered, strong-willed and impulsive. He attempts to maintain a detached image, despite not caring about what other people think about him. If something he deems annoying happens, he acts rude and mean, showing his annoyance without a second thought. He can be seen engaged in conversations with other people if they pique his interest. However, he is known to be the man of few words. Shuren believes that he is a transcendent being and can be seen performing cocky actions because of that, such as seeing others inferior. He is shown to be quite perceptive both in and out of the battlefield. This usually allows him to think a step or two ahead. Whenever angered or in combat, Shuren tries to be fairly calm, serious, and level-headed. As much as he has an uninterested look in his eyes most of the times, he does whatever it takes to accomplish his task. He can go as far as to manipulate and/or deceive his opponents, just to win the battle. Even though he rarely shows it, Shuren also has a comical side, adding a bit of levity to situations that are otherwise serious. After unlocking his Vizard heritage, he became a darker character with a withdrawn and spiky attitude. He often dispensed with niceties in a tense situation, becoming cold and calculative in critical moments that required sound judgement and the occasional application of sharp practice. Because of his detachment from emotions, he could come off as unpleasant, fearsome, and ruthless.

Powers & Abilities

Overwhelming Reiatsu: Being one of the strongest and most experienced entities, Shuren possesses an exceedingly powerful Reiatsu. Its sheer strength is enough to break free from the strongest bonds in seconds. His Reiatsu nullifies the actions of those possessing a High amount with no effort at all and would be exceptionally overpowering to them when used in an attack. Not in 1,000 years has a warrior been born more powerful than he. It can directly oppose a great amount of Reiatsu of others and tip the scales in his favor, it can even negate the effects of their abilities, if he exerts it. When at its peak, his spiritual power can be felt around the world.

Genius Intellect: Arguably, the most fearsome trait of Shuren is his tremendous intellect. He is well-versed in the history and proceedings of the world and is privy to knowledge unknown to many, such as secret methods. He easily grasps the concepts of subjects completely new to him and masters them quickly. Even in the most complex and dangerous of situations Shuren can rely on his calculating intellect to figure out the best course of action. His assessment of a situation is swift, ad-hoc and accurate, allowing him to deduce the nature of other people’s abilities and countering them, often only requiring a few instances of observation.

Keen Scientist: Shuren is a gifted inventor and scientist, having created a number of clever devices and techniques to aid him in battle or otherwise. His intellect in this field is evident, as he is able to create and invent devices on her own and further sophisticated research. He is an asset to any development bureau as his work can help accomplish the developmental goals. He knows chemistry, being able to work with chemical formulas and combined them to make new ones. He can also repair advanced machines, sometimes needing to improvise on materials.

Master Tactician: he has shown himself to be a masterful and flexible tactician, capable of adjusting seamlessly to any given combat situation, if not planning out events well in advance. He understands the strengths, weaknesses and mannerisms of his enemies, and creates strategies to achieve victory; this includes preparing traps or leading his enemies along complex battle plans so he can even deal with enemies stronger than himself. Like this Shuren can prepare victory many steps in advance and even incorporate his enemies and their plans into his grand scheme. Regardless of his own powers or those of others, Shuren always remains a tactically cautious.

Hohō Master Specialist: Shuren is highly skilled in the art of Shunpo. He has mastered this ability to the point where he can appear to be in several places at once. He can easily close tremendous gaps of distance in the blink of an eye while remaining undetected, and can surprise even some of the most proficient masters of this art as well. He is capable of effortlessly dodging simultaneous attacks at close range and evading Bankai level techniques. He is perceived to be so fast that one cannot discern even being attacked by him until after it has taken place. Even masters can barely keep up with him while he is still holding back.
Utsusemi (空蝉, Cicada, referencing their molting): Allows for a movement at great speed leaving an after-image behind. The after-image may even appear to have taken damage. One can also exit a haori in one fluid move, leaving it behind in the air.
Bunshin (分身, Alter Ego): A Shunpo technique where the user shunpoes from one place to another in rapid succession without halting. Multiple after-images might be created like this, all of them translucent and sharing the user's voice and Reiatsu pattern. Though these speed-clones cannot attack or suffer attacks like Utsusemi can, they do a better at hiding the user's true position and are far greater in number.

Zanjutsu Master Specialist: his skill with his sword has been honed to a masterful level, letting Shuren strike multiple times with changes of attack type (from slash to pierce) without any difficulty. His skills and immense might with his sword allow him to always fight with one hand free, only using both hands when facing opponents he feels will beat him otherwise, which is an unlikely occurrence in its own right. He would have no problem fighting two masters simultaneously, and he might still come out on top.

Kidō Legend: Shuren knows every spell in the books, and those which aren't. Kidō holds no secrets to him and he can masterfully cast every spell using only a name to do so. Up to #89 he can also make the spells appear from thin air, all the while still retaining great potential. He can manipulate Kidō energy in such a way that powerful attacks are stopped on his body without there seemingly being a cause which stopped them, or instantly produce tremendous aimed explosions. The speed by which he can string up spells makes one wonder if it weren't two or three masters, who were hiding somewhere, doing most of the work.
Shihaigan (支配眼, literally meaning “Ruling Eye”): A Kidou spell that was devised by Shuren. Given its function it can't be categorized as Hadou or Bakudou. The spell grants the user the ability understand complex concepts and mechanics (e.g. dimensional engineering) and also the ability to alter or disable them directly, or indirectly by changing/adding a specific quality or a way of functioning. After the activation of the spell, the eyes of the user become completely white, with featureless irises and no visible pupils. Once the target is chosen, the user “zooms in” and becomes able to see through it. Then he goes through all of the mechanics of the target in an instant. After altering, disabling or adding a particular quality, the spell deactivates automatically. Additionally the spell can be maintained or deactivated before being used in succession, as it depends on the caster’s will. The target has to be an inanimate object and it can be chosen by making a hand gesture of waving one of the hands in a single direction horizontally, but a simple stare also suffices. The spell uses no considerable amount of spiritual pressure, as it often makes small but crucial changes, instead of leaving huge but unimportant effects behind. It can be considered useless by an outsider, however Shuren thinks that what makes it so special and useful for him is not the spell’s ability, but its usage. It is said that one time he took down an entire airship himself, by just disconnecting the cables that were connecting the engine with the wings of the airship.

Kirin (麒麟): Kirin is an extremely powerful, one-shot, lightning-based Kidou spell. After the activation of the spell, the user creates thunder clouds in the air by using his reiatsu to heat the air and produce the necessary storm conditions. Afterwards, the user draws natural lightning directly from thunder clouds to supplement the power of his strike and controls it with his reiatsu. Unlike most techniques, which are based on the user's own spiritual pressure, this one uses the natural lightning, which — as noted by Shuren — reaches the ground in an untraceable speed. Once the lightning source has been acquired, shaping and guiding the lightning to the target requires very little reiatsu. Kirin is generally shaped with Chinese dragon-like features. Most notably its head with eyes having thick eyelashes, a mane that always flows upward defying gravity, a beard, and scales on the body ranging either somewhat scaled to totally scaled like a dragon. However it can also maintain its simple lightning form. In addition, usage seems to disperse the thunder clouds as the sky clears up of clouds after use. The technique is strong enough to completely obliterate a small mountain.

Hiraishin (飛雷神, literally meaning Flying Thunder God): Hiraishin is a Kidou spell, which allows the users to transport themselves to a given marked location instantaneously. To activate this spell, the user places a special seal or "technique formula" to mark an intended destination. After this is done, they can at will enter a dimensional void that instantaneously transports them to anywhere near to the location of the seal (within a one meter radius). The mark can be applied to almost any area through brief physical contact, including an opponent or other surrounding feature. Because this spell is able to affect anything that is in contact with the user or somehow connected to their spiritual pressure, they can also use this spell to teleport other objects or people, though the size of the object dictates the amount of reiatsu required. As Shuren also noted, the marking formula never disappears from a marked target unless he wants it to disappear. Hiraishin is a unique spell, because unlike any of its other counterparts, its spiritual pressure usage is directly proportional to the size of what's being teleported and indirectly proportional to the user's familiarity with the shape of the target, not to how far it's teleported. Unlike Shunpo, Hiraishin is faster and untraceable because of the fact that there is no movement involved, but instead teleportation.
  • Hiraishin: Goshun Mawashi (飛雷神・互瞬回し, Flying Thunder God: Mutually Instantaneous Revolving): If a person is marked with the spell or given the reiatsu of the user of the technique, this grants them the ability to switch their positions at any point in time during a battle.
  • Hiraishin: Ni no Dan (飛雷神・ニの段, Flying Thunder God: Second Step): The user throws his weapon with Flying Thunder God mark at his opponent. Then he teleports to it, attacking his enemy from his back or blindside.
  • Hiraishin: Rasen Senkou Chou Rinbukou Sanshiki (飛雷神・螺旋閃光超輪舞吼・参式 , Flying Thunder God: Spiralling Flash Super Round Dance Howl Style Three): This technique employs the use of Flying Thunder God spell with Shuren's Air Manipulation. Shuren throws several Flying Thunder God Kunai around the enemy, and teleports to them simultaneously. After teleporting to each Kunai, Shuren uses Air Manipulation to repel the enemies with great force and hit them from different angles. It is a technique that was initially developed to create an opening for an attack. However, with the usage of the Air Manipulation it was shown to be enough to defeat an entire platoon of Shinigami.
  • Hiraishin: Jikuu Shippuu Senkou Ren no Dan: Zero Shiki (飛雷神・時空疾風閃光連の段・零式, Flying Thunder God: Space–Time Hurricane Flash Sequential Steps: Style Zero): Shuren sends all six of his Flying Thunder God kunai at his opponent, and then teleports to each of the kunai as they fly near his opponent. After slashing his target several times with his sword, Shuren ends the combo with an energy blast, that either being a Hadou spell or his own technique, Kazekiri.
  • Hiraishin: Dourai (飛雷神・導雷, Flying Thunder God: Guiding Thunder): The Guiding Thunder is a space-time barrier spell, based on it's parent spell; Hiraishin. The user creates a transparent barrier of various sizes. This barrier spell incorporates the use of the Flying Thunder God formula to erect a barrier space capable of warping away anything which comes in contact with it. Once erected, the barrier has proven powerful enough to warp away destructive techniques. Once warped, the subject of the spell can be directed to another location marked by the formula.

Shin: Kokuukai Koutan (神・虚空界降誕, literally meaning "God: Nativity of a Void World"): Placing his right arm is above the left while making his right palm face down and left palm face up, Shuren makes an “X” sign. Then he releases his spiritual pressure to its maximum capacity in a way that it creates great spiraling threads of energy, which are centered on his location. They seem to enclose him, but are actually amassed at a focused point (i.e. the palm of the hand). Shuren turns this into an energy ball that is many times greater than a normal person in size. This spell combines vast amounts of energy by using Shuren’s reiatsu. The great size of the attack makes it harder to avoid. The sphere is also incredibly dense, but despite how heavy it is, it travels rapidly once fired, enough to hit a target in only a few moments. This makes it quite fast once it is thrown. It is also very destructive, able to create an explosion that is visible from far away. The spell results in a tremendous explosion upon impact, and is also very destructive. It sends shock-waves in all directions that are visible from far away.

Great Strength: As a fighter with considerable physical conditioning, Shuren has shown sufficient strength to partly block very powerful attacks and is capable of dealing with powerful strikes. His attacks also hold great potency behind them, easily enough to launch other people of the ground and through solid objects, as well as leaving shallow craters behind. It could still be overpowered by those possessing a brutal amount of strength however.

Immense Speed: Shuren is deceptively fast in combat, even when just leaping. His legs can propel him fast enough to surprise even fast opponents. He can instantly close huge gaps relying on his innate speed alone, appearing to disappear from sight completely. He is fast enough to react to most surprise attacks and masterfully deliver a counter to them. In battle, he can strike with incredible speed in rapid succession, making it highly difficult for his opponents to find an opening and counter-attack.

Immense Endurance: Shuren seems to be tirelessly energetic in combat. He can sustain peak activity for an extended period of time without tiring and requires only a short time to catch his breath again. This makes it difficult to tire him out completely through physical activity alone. He can even fight on unhindered after sustaining a grave injury.

Enhanced Senses not only can Shuren utilize the normal Reiatsu sensing technique of a Shinigami, he is also in possession of superior other senses. His sight, hearing, sense of smell and even his feel for Reiatsu are very acute and sharp; able to discern smaller sources and nuances where others could not.

Zanpakutō

Shinseikaze (神聖風, literally meaning "Divine Wind"): Shinseikaze's sealed appearance takes the form of a standard length katana with dark blue hilt accompanied with a tsuba that has dragon motifs on it. The scabbard of the sword also has white colored wind designs on it on the beginning and the end.

Shikai: Its Release Command is Fukitobasu (吹き飛ばす, literally meaning "Blow Off"). The released state has the same appearance as the sealed state.

Ⓐ➄ Ayatsuri no Kuuki (操りの空気 , literally meaning "Air Manipulation"): Ayatsuri no Kuuki is Shinseikaze’s main and also the strongest ability. With its power, Shuren can create, shape and manipulate air, the common name given to the layer of atmospheric gases and various compounds (mostly oxygen and nitrogen) surrounding the planet that is retained by its gravity, and all forms of wind, movement of air relative to the surface of the planet. Several ways of its utilization has been shown throughout its history of usage. For example, it can be used as a more offensive move involving a direct pulse or jet of almost solid wind from the hands, feet, or sword. This direct blast can reach further with greater accuracy, and is used to inflict greater damage. Other than that can use the so-called Aero-Telekinesis by controlling the air around objects by making use of his control over air vectors. He can change the air pressure to enhance the strength behind his strikes or himself. He can apply the same to solidify air or change its density. He can emit vibrations by releasing bursts of compressed air, use the air to enhance his senses by amplifying air molecule vibrations or reading the airwaves and feeling any disturbances. His speed can be enhanced by reducing air resistance around him and utilizing pressurized air for propulsion. It also allows for wind-based counter-attacks that knock opponents off-balance, mimicking the sudden directional shifts of air currents. Attacks vary from simple gusts of wind to miniature tornadoes and cyclones, maintaining the circular theme. Additionally, Shuren has the ability to manipulate and alter the quality of the air.
  • Kazekiri (風切り, literally meaning "Wind Cutter"): Kazekiri, as Shuren named it, is an offensive move that combines brute force and keen precision of the Air Manipulation. At the instant of the slash or the swipe, the Zanpakutō or the limb (depending on which one is being used), uses the Air Manipulation to manipulate and enhance pre-existing air currents. After the air is sharpened and compressed during the swing or the swipe, it's released from the tip of the blade or the limb, magnifying the slash attack, which then flies forward. The wind flows out of the blade in different shapes as it fires in the arc of the sword’s swing but the slash usually takes the form of a crescent-shaped structure of compressed air or the shape of a wave. Kazekiri is a powerful technique with great force, capable of creating large-scale damage and destruction or slicing through multiple targets located a significant distance from the user, causing grievous injuries to those hit. Shuren has used this technique in several different manners, such as striking the ground to create an omnidirectional blast to knock away incoming attacks or slashing at the ground to upturn it and crush everything in its path. This technique can also be charged up by adding reiatsu to it and can produce more damage. Additionally, Kazekiri is often seen being used as a ranged attack, though it's also possible to utilize it in short range by keeping the technique intact around the sword, limb or hand without releasing it. Kazekiri's most outstanding feature is the fact that it uses the existent air to form itself. This allows Shuren to use spiritual pressure not to create or form the technique, but enhance it instead. This makes Kazekiri effective since the same amount of reiatsu can be used for a stronger attack. As Shuren has elemental reiatsu and is able convert it into air itself, even if there is no air around (which is hardly possible) there is still a way for Kazekiri to be utilized.
  • Kazeyūheki (風流壁, literally meaning "Wind-Style Wall"): Kazeyuuheki, as it was named by Shuren, is a defensive technique that lets him create a barrier using his Air Manipulation. The wind barrier can be created either in front of the sword or a limb. Creating it in front of the sword results in a barrier without a stationary shape: it looks as if it has a rounded outline but the edges seem to constantly move like the winds. It is greater than Shuren himself, both in height and width. Choosing to apply the technique in front of a limb, however, results in a more solid-looking wind barrier. In such sets of circumstances, a hexagonal-shaped barrier forms in front of the said limb. The barrier is smaller than Shuren, but still relatively bigger than the limb he uses it with. This actually allows him to freely switch between offense and defense, allowing him to even use the shield to attack an opponent with a sharp tackle. He can also be seen using the barrier to parry an attack and proceed with a counter with his sword. Like Kazekiri, Kazeyuuheki also uses the existent air to form itself and spiritual pressure to strengthen and enhance it. Both types of the shields are created by compressing the already existing winds, enhanced by reiatsu. They only protect the direction that the barrier is facing. Yet, Shuren can turn and face his opponent or the attack in the direction that it is coming from and block it, not to mention that he is able to move around with the shield active.

Bankai: Kamishini no Kaze (神殺風, literally meaning "God-Killing Wind"): While his Bankai is active, Shuren gains a reiatsu shroud, which manifests around his entire body. This shroud of reiatsu not only provides a better protection than Shuren’s clothes, but also doesn’t slow him down as it is made of reiatsu and thus weightless. The shroud is silver-white like Shuren’s reiatsu in Bankai, and releases spiritual pressure constantly looking like flickering flames. Shuren’s clothes and even his skin take this color, except the places with markings and his eyes. The markings are dark gray. His sclera turn into the same color, but his irises take a lighter tone. A circular marking appears on Shuren’s chest and both arms, along with six magatama markings around the neck. Lateral and lineal markings also appear at various places, mainly on Shuren’s hands and arms. In addition to his robe and hair, his sword changes too and takes a pure white color, including the blade and the scabbard. Seemingly blue winds engulf the sword, but it's something that changes its appearance and doesn't provide a new ability whatsoever. Additionally, ten spheres of malleable dark gray reiatsu form behind Shuren. These are called Gudōdama (求道玉, literally meaning "Truth-Seeking Balls"). Shuren can move and control the Gudōdama at will, though they do not possess an extra property other than the physical damage they can cause by hitting. While in Bankai, a vortex of air envelops Kamishini no Kaze for as long as its Bankai is active. When it strikes, the formidable wind current shreds the area directly around the struck area, resulting in gaping holes.

Hyper Speed: In Bankai Shuren becomes unfeasibly fast! It transcends all ordinary notion of movement and uses it to totally dominate his opponents. He can appear where he wishes at the moment he wishes, using his movement to dictate the pace of battle and strike when he wills. He is capable of downright outmaneuvering his opponents, moving around them completely before they could even turn around to face him. His reactions make any hope for a surprise hit on him vanity, and he could easily exploit their mistaken element of surprise against them. The volume and intensity of his attack speed is simply daunting, as he may strike so fast that his opponent could not even observe the attack having taken place before being hit.
Massive Cutting Power: In Bankai Kamishini no Kaze condenses the majority of its Reiatsu around the contact area of its body. This massively increases the damage it can cause from physical strikes, especially against opponents protected by Hierro or Blut Vene. It renders even highly specialized defenses almost obsolete as it will even make light work of the Hierro or Blut of a stronger opponent.

Hollow Mask: Shuren's Hollow powers manifest as a white mask with a purple lightning symbol over the right eye. It also has a thin red slit across the mouth. Shuren can hold his Mask for more than 24 hours straight. In combat this means practically indefinitely. If it is broken by a powerful direct impact or a grave enough injury, he can restore or resummon it 3 times.

Power Augmentation: While Shuren is wearing the mask, his Hollow powers supplement his Shinigami powers, giving him a strong increase in Reiatsu which is enough to surpass most Shikai on its own. Coupled with his own Reiatsu he becomes a very formidable foe to his peers while relying on his Hollow powers alone.

Ⓢ➅ Enhanced Ayatsuri no Kuuki (操りの空気 , literally meaning "Air Manipulation"): When Shuren wears his mask, the potency and overall effectiveness of his Ayatsuri no Kuuki becomes drastically augmented, to the point of making a serious difference to before. When used with his Bankai and Hollow mask in combination, his Ayatsuri no Kuuki is stated to be his ultimate ability.
High Speed Regeneration: While Masked, Shuren has the ability to quickly regenerate any part of his body save for the brains and internal organs. The repair of damage can start quickly and finishes in two posts time. Despite the many benefits it has, many Hollows choose to abandon this power when becoming Arrancar in favor of greater strength. Although its ability to regenerate is indeed powerful it is not without flaws; the brains and internal organs can’t be regenerated and if such irreparable damage occurs, the body may continue to regenerate though to no avail. In addition, if the body is damage before it had the chance to regenerate or if enough damage it inflicted at one, it can be destroyed regardless.
Potent Strength: while Hollowfied Shuren begets an ample amount of strength. It is enough to block very powerful attacks and allows him to deliver very powerful strikes himself. It could launch opponents, even the heavy ones off the ground and through solid objects. He could leave small craters just by his poundings. It could still be overpowered by those possessing a massive amount of strength however.
Bullet Speed: While Hollowfied Shuren becomes extremely fast! His entire body is geared towards speed, moving exceptionally fast, covering enormous distances in an instant and reacting to superfast attacks. He reacts quick enough to respond to nearly any surprise attack and counter it perfectly, making a smooth transition between being attacked and being the attacked. In battle, he can strike with nigh-unobservable speed and at a frightening pace, making it nigh-impossible for his opponents to find an opening and counter-attack.
Sonído: While Masked Shuren uses Sonído instead of Shunpo. His Sonído is extremely fast and on par with that of the Legendary. He is tremendously skilled in the art of Sonído, far exceeding even the extraordinary as he can appear in multiple locations at the same time and conduct nigh-simultaenous attacks. He closes gaps so huge he can move in and out the sensory perception range of his opponents, in the blink of an eye. Even while heavily encumbered he can outpace other masters. If he claimed to be the most proficient Sonído user in the whole of Soul Society it wouldn't be unfounded.
Enhanced Cero: Shuren can fire a beam of concentrated energy. He can fire his Cero from opposing sides of his body. It also loads relatively quickly, leaving less time for his opponent to react. If he audibly speaks the word ‘Cero’ during loading, it fires off as a very wide beam as well. His Cero can deal massive damage to anyone even when not completely loaded, it can easily blast through practically all objects in the way. As an explosion, it can deal crippling damage when suffered point blank.
Augmented Kidō: his Hollowfication gives Shuren enhanced control over Kidō. His Hollow Powers do not teach Shuren any new Kidō spells but makes them easier for him to cast. While Hollowfied, he can cast any of the standard spells he knows without an incantation while retaining much of their original potential. Those he already knew in Eishohaki, he can now cast using only the spell name albeit at only around half their maximum power. Any standard spells he could already use in rapid succession he can now cast twice as fast.
Negación: By greatly and suddenly increasing his Hollow Reiryoku Shuren can deflect heavy attacks to his body relying on ousting Reiatsu alone. Although being a rapid incline in raw power it is precisely steered towards the impact site, nullifying the incoming energy with a direct opposite energy. Although this can stop heavy sword hews and even diminish potent Kidō and most Cero variations it does exact a heavy toll on the his Mask, lowering the number of turns he can still hold it by 5 or it will break immediately after.

Equipment

The Snitch: The Snitch is a small gold-coloured sphere with silver wings and is about the size of a walnut. It flaps its wings at considerably high speeds and can hover or fly around. The Snitch is unique for having its own memory and possessing a state of being awake and aware of its surroundings. Even though it has no visible devices outside, the Snitch was built with transcendental engineering and designed after the concept of dimensional transcendentalism, which makes it bigger on the inside. This enables the Snitch to have many processing units within itself, allowing it to have even an intelligence. Lastly, the Snitch is connected to Romana, making it accessible even in long distances.

Hiraishin Kunai (飛雷神クナイ, The Flying Thunder God Kunai): These are custom-made kunai and signature tool of Shuren, who uses it in conjunction with his custom Kidou spell: the Flying Thunder God Technique. They differ from a normal kunai a Shinigami could encounter; they have three blades instead of one and on the handle (which is thicker than normal) is the "marker" for Shuren's teleportation ability. Shuren also stated that these blades are bit heavier than a normal kunai. The prongs on them also make them more deadly in melee fighting. Shuren carries twelve of these kunai with him.
