Anna Gray

Anna is a girl of considerably short height with a small, yet very muscular build and physique. She has moderately short hair that is often tied at the back with her right fringe mainly draping over the right side of her face though she tends to push it to the side on occasion; possibly for better visibility. She has an oval-shaped face, blonde hair, green eyes and pale complexion. When untied, her hair reaches down the nape of her neck. Anna’s attire mainly consists of a hooded sweatshirt underneath a jacket accompanied by dark gray sports tights.

Anna is an isolated, exclusionary person; friendships do not come to her easily. She is rarely seen smiling and often has an emotionless expression. She tries to distance herself from people, believing that her good luck becomes their misfortune. While Anna tends to have a realistic outlook on life, she holds a fascination and even feelings of respect towards people who have a deep sense of duty and righteousness - in those people who devote their lives and even die for causes they believe in. Despite her usual cold and calm demeanor, she is capable of expressing her feelings in various ways. She is extremely practical and self-aware, being honest about her strengths and weaknesses, and is rarely ever prone to self-deception or emotional mistakes.

Anna was raised by ordinary parents with ordinary jobs. At an early age, however she made it clear that she was anything but ordinary. Growing up in a small apartment in Queens, Anna didn’t think of her good luck as an extension of her abilities and considered it pure coincidence. It was after she noticed the streak of misfortunes her parents went through that she realized she had an affect on the outcomes of events. One day when she was trying to change the light bulb in their living room, Anna lost her balance and fell from the stairs she was using. She landed very softly on the nearby couch, though the stairs collapsed on his mother and broke her right leg. After this specific incident, with the help of a friend of hers, Anna had her parents’ memories altered to make them unaware of her existence. Afterwards she moved elsewhere in New York and started to work as a black-market courier to make a living.

Special Ability: The Scales
Anna is a mutant with the ability to subliminally and psionically initiate random kinetic phenomena that affect probability in her favor.
  • Probability Manipulation: Anna can make improbable (but not impossible) things occur within her line of sight, thus causing her to have good luck and her opponents to have bad luck. This phenomenon can be anything from an enemy’s equipment failure to hitting just the right switch with a stray shot to shut down an overloading nuclear reactor. The full extent of her powers is still unknown. This unconsciously controlled talent is triggered when she is in a stressful situation (such as fighting or escaping). This effect constantly emanates from her body at all times and is completely subconscious. However, it is also largely participatory - in order for the luck to take effect, Anna herself must engage in an action whose chance she can affect. She cannot consciously control her ability. Anna can only activate it by putting herself in a position in which she could be harmed. For example, if debris falling from the sky was about to hit her in the head, she would still be hurt if she stood still. However, if she tried to avoid them, she would move perfectly to avoid each and every piece about to hit her. In addition if Anna were to stand before a hail of bullets she would be a bullet-ridden corpse. Instead, she must take action; in attempting to avoid the gunfire, she will miraculously bob and weave just right to avoid every single shot. Her powers can also be applied to non-kinetic improbable events, such as guessing an encrypted vault code on her first try. However, Anna’s field affects only her probability field, and can only grant good effects on herself meaning it is somewhat inadvisable to include her in group battles, since her powers would indiscriminately affect both friend and foe alike to bring her benefit at their expense.
Enhanced Agility & Reflexes: As a byproduct of her probability abilities, Anna’s cerebral cortex emits a current of bio-electric pulses down her spine to instinctively guide her movements during such situations, which has the added effect of augmenting her natural reflexes and agility to near-superhuman levels.
